Single check for seniors will have independent IRS rate

The single check for the lowest pensions will be subject to an IRS rate “independent of that applied to the income from pensions paid in October,” the Finance Ministry assured Negocios yesterday. The guardianship body explained that, as happened with the payment of the extraordinary supplement in October 2022, “there will be no increase in the income tax rate from the IRS point of view compared to the rate that usually applies to the pension.”

“The rate of the autonomous withholding tax that will be applied to the pension supplement paid in October will correspond to the amount of the pension for that month,” the Finance Ministry specified. The one-time check could be between 100 and 200 euros and will cover 2.4 million pensioners.
