Champions Sporting visit Farense this Friday for the opening game of the third round of the I Football League, where the Lions are in “unstoppable mode” and the Algarve are still looking for their first points.
The game at the Algarve Stadium, which kicks off at 20:15 and is refereed by Thiago Martins, will see two teams with opposite contexts face off: a dominant Sporting with nine goals scored in two rounds and Farense with one goal scored and three suffered.
Ruben Amorim’s side, who will be able to count on Nuno Santos after missing the start of the season through injury but who will still be without captain Morten Hjulman, also injured, are the clear favourites in a game in which they are trying to extend their lead.
The Lions are the first of the title contenders to take to the pitch: Porto, also with two wins in two matches, host Rio Ave, while Benfica, with one win and one defeat, play Estrela da Amadora in Lux, both on Saturday.
After two rounds, the first league is led by Sporting, Porto, Famalicao, Moreirense and Vitoria de Guimarães – five teams with two wins.
