A tourist was fatally stabbed in Mauritius by a man she met on Tinder while looking for a “summer romance”.
29-year-old Zaliya Shamigulova disappeared after leaving the rented apartment where she was relaxing on Saturday.
The Russian woman was last seen getting into a car belonging to a “local resident” who was giving her a “ride,” according to information gathered Sun.
The disappearance was reported by a fellow traveler. The victim’s family received messages allegedly from Zaliya that she had decided to disappear and asking them not to contact her.
The body was found with multiple stab wounds on Thursday. According to Russian media, which spoke to the victim’s emotional family, the woman met her alleged killer on the dating app Tinder.
The suspect confessed to the murder, local police revealed, and are looking for possible accomplices.
The authorities’ report indicated that the man intended to marry Zaliya. During interrogation, the suspect said that he had learned of the woman’s alleged infidelity.
“On Saturday, the man took his wife for a walk to explore the island, but in a fit of anger and jealousy, he took a knife and brutally killed his girlfriend before stripping her clothes and burying her,” police said.
