A fire broke out on two ships at the Vila do Conde shipyards.
Vila do Conde firefighters, the Marine Police and the GNR were called to the scene. In total, 19 operational personnel and eight ground specialists are at the scene.
The alarm was received at 13:03.
According to a source from the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of the Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP), “two vessels are burning” and firefighters from Vila do Conde are battling the blaze.

In a message sent to Lusa at 5:00 p.m., Vila do Conde Port Commander Monica Martins said the main vessel caught in the fire was “still burning” and that those near it had already been removed.
The authorities’ main objective is to avoid pollution at the mouth of the Ave River, and a “source containment line” has already been successfully established.
A second line of pollution containment is also being built, according to Monica Martins.
According to the person responsible for the fire, the fight against the fire continues and there is no forecast for its end.
