A 72-year-old woman, a pensioner and former emigrant, was found dead this Monday at home in Peniche with signs of violence. The case is being investigated by the Judicial Police (PJ) of Leiria.
The victim had not been seen for several days, prompting the family to seek help from the fire department to enter the house and break down the door. The fire brigade, accompanied by a patrol from the Fire Service, discovered the body.
TO CMA PJ source in Leiria confirmed the suspicion of a crime, without providing any further information, as it was a “complex scenario” and was still under investigation. The woman lived alone and one of the hypotheses being investigated is that she was the victim of a robbery that she tried to resist and which turned into murder.
