The Bank of Portugal (BdP) warned that the alleged entity, operating through the website www.bancacabotospa.com and the profile www.facebook.com/p/Banca-Caboto-SPA-61559822490549, is not authorised to carry out financial activities in Portugal.
“The Bank of Portugal warns that the alleged entity that operated through the website https://www.bancacabotospa.com/ and the Facebook page accessible at https://www.facebook.com/p/Banca -Caboto-SPA-61559822490549/ does not currently have and has never had the right to carry out in Portugal any financial activity intended for institutions supervised by the Bank of Portugal, namely grants, intermediation and lending. When calling the bank, the bank must be careful not to confuse it with any other similar denomination,” the banking supervisory authority said in a warning published on its website.
Banco de Portugal reminds that the entities authorized to carry out credit concessions, intermediary and consulting activities are included in the lists that can be consulted on the Bank’s Client Portal, accessible on the entity’s website.
The supervisory authority stressed that it is aware of situations in which the names of organisations that are or have been authorised are being misused by third parties in fraudulent schemes.
Banco de Portugal therefore advised, in case of doubt, to contact the supervisory authority by email at [email protected].
