Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Luís Montenegro will come together to welcome the new school year, which this year will take place on 12 September. The President of the Republic and the Prime Minister will visit the Alves Martins Secondary School in Viseu.
The start of the 2024/2025 academic year will be marked not only by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s visit to Montenegro, but also by a view of the sea.Minister of Education Fernando Alexandre, as well as Secretaries of State Alexandre Homem Cristo and Pedro Machado da Cunha.
The purpose of the visit is one of the best public schools in the country. In the last ten years alone, Alves Martins Secondary School has sent more than 300 students to medical courses.
It’s another start to a school year marked by teacher shortages, crumbling buildings and a lack of IT resources in schools.
