Cristiano Ronaldo took an active part in the draw held in Monaco on Thursday, but before that he was honoured by UEFA, which awarded him the trophy confirming his status as the all-time top scorer in the Champions League (141 goals).
“It’s nice to be here, this trophy means a lot. The Champions League means a lot in football. The records speak for themselves, but the pleasure of playing in the competition is everything. The players listen to music and put on another ‘mode’,” said the Al Nasr player, who later revealed that the trophy would go to his museum in Madeira.
Later, as he pressed the “destroy” button on Sporting’s rivals, Ronaldo made no secret of his affection for the club. “It’s special, it’s special,” CR7 said.
