A 40-year-old man who escaped from Alcoentre prison in the municipality of Azambuja, Lisbon district, after a dangerous escape, was captured by PSP police in Évora, police said this Friday.
A statement from the Public Security Police (PSP) said the prisoner was captured by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Evora District.
The police “were aware that somewhere in the city of Evora there was a man who had allegedly escaped from prison.”
The PSP said it had taken steps to allow the man to be found in the historic centre of the Alentejo city and to confirm that “he was unlawfully absent from prison after a dangerous exit.”
“The man was captured and taken to prison [de Alcoentre]where he continues to serve his sentence for the crimes of robbery with the use of a firearm and drug trafficking,” the statement said.
