According to a statement released this Sunday, GNR Fafe in the Braga region detained a 43-year-old man in the city of Vinhos due to a forest fire caused by the fire.
According to the text, the Territorial Post Fafe da GNR, belonging to the Territorial Command of Braga, detained the suspect after a forest fire on Friday, where it was found that the same “arose from the burning of the remains that were piled up for the purpose of eliminating them.”
According to the GNR, the burning “started a fire that destroyed about 1,000 meters of forest and eucalyptus”, with the suspect being presented as an argument and the facts being referred to the Fafe Judicial Court.
The Guard recalls that “arson and fires are the main causes of fires in Portugal” and that “bonfires, landfills and campfires are prohibited when there is a ‘very high’ level of rural fire danger” or a ‘maximum’, depending on prior authorization or messages in other periods.
