A 76-year-old man died today after being hit by a car in Albergaria dos Doze, in the municipality of Pombal, Leiria district, police and civil protection sources told Lusa.
The Subregional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of the Leiria Region reported that the alarm about the incident was received by authorities at 1:57 p.m., with 10 emergency personnel and five vehicles from the Pombal Volunteer Fire Department, the National Institute of Emergency Medicine and the GNR rushing to the scene.
According to the National Republican Guard (NRG), the victim was hit by a passenger car; the circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Center for Road Accidents.
A GNR source told Lusa that the judicial police were called to the scene “as there was a suspicion that the collision was deliberate.”
