Complaints about changing IBAN without coordination with the Financial Portal are increasing

With the announcement of the payment of an additional support of 125 euros from October 20, many people have entered the financial portal to verify that their IBAN is correct. However, complaints about the change – without consent – of the account number present on the site are becoming more and more.

However, the Authority has already stated that around 320,000 transfers have not been processed due to invalid IBANs on the Financial Portal. But even so, he has already successfully completed 87% of the ordered transfers.

There are “numerous” complaints from taxpayers condemning the case, according to the Complaints Portal. “indicate security deficiencies to the tax authorities and demand answers.” The support of 125 and 50 euros began to be paid on October 20 by the Tax and Customs Administration (AT) and the Social Security Service, most applicants claim that the bank account number indicated in the Financial Portal personal data is outdated or invalid. account, and that the IBAN has been changed without your consent.

“For about 10 years now, my IRS return has been filed from the same bank account. When the emergency aid came, it was said that the account to which it would be paid would be the same as the declaration, and therefore I am not worried. I received the amount and checked the account associated with my AT registration, which was empty. I made changes to the account, already known to AT. The IRS has already mentioned that the invalidity of many IBANs can be due to several reasons, namely, dialing errors, a registered IBAN associated with an account that has been closed in the meantime, or that taxpayers have posted an IBAN of an account that they do not own. In circumstances where taxpayers only provide an IBAN to the IRS, this is what is taken into account when paying the €125 emergency support.

However, even if you find that your IBAN is incorrect, you must change it in order to receive 125 euros. The payment of emergency assistance can be made in two stages. The first phase is for taxpayers who have a correct and verified IBAN, while the second phase aims to respond to all Portuguese who have realized that they need to update their IBAN in the Finance Portal.
