CP workers start another strike today

CP workers start new strikes this Monday, with the carrier warning of “serious unrest” until March 2 to protest the stalemate in wage negotiations, which also involves Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).

CP warned on Friday of “serious disruptions” to train traffic between 00:00 Feb. 27 and 23:59 March 2 due to the strike, with minimum services set on two of those days.

The CP – Comboio de Portugal communiqué is based on the strike announced by SINFA, ASCEF, ASSIFECO, FENTCOP, SINFB, SIOFA, STF, STMEFE, SINAFE on 27 February and 1 March and SNTSF on 28 February and 2 March.

For this reason, the company warns that “between 00:00 on the 27th and 23:59 on March 2, 2023, there will be major disruptions to train traffic throughout the country,” adding that services have been banned. at least on February 27 and March 1, 2023.

Customers who have already purchased tickets for Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, as well as International, Interregional and Regional services can request a refund “in the total amount of the purchased ticket or its free re-checking on another train of the same category and in the same class”.

The same information from CP also adds that a refund can be requested at the box office or through the cp.pt website by filling out an “online” form, sending a scan of the original ticket, and indicating the full name, address, IBAN and NIF within ten days after the end of the strike .

Tickets can be rechecked free of charge at the box office or via myCP if purchased online or via the CP app, up to 30 minutes before the train departs from the customer’s home station.

On 15 February, the Union of Public Administration Workers (Sintap) and the National Union of Transport and Associated Railway Workers (Sinafe) announced a strike at the CP on 27 February and 1 March.

In a statement, they said CP workers would go on strike to do “any work under the following conditions” on February 27 and March 1 “for the duration of the working period.”

A day earlier, these unions announced a strike at the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) on 28 February and 2 March.

It is a “stalemate” in wage negotiations with IP and CP management, the unions said in a statement.
