The strike at the checkpoint resulted in the suppression of 509 trains before 2:00 pm.

According to data released by the carrier, the CP workers’ strike caused 509 trains out of 687 scheduled to stop before 2:00 pm.

Thus, during the analyzed period, the operator blocked 74.1% of the scheduled flights, having carried out only 178 trains, that is, having performed a minimum of services.

In long-distance traffic, the KP blocked 29 trains out of 39 planned, and in regional traffic, 135 trains out of 183 planned did not run.

In the city of Lisbon, 242 out of 326 scheduled trains were delayed, and 103 out of 139 scheduled trains were not sent to Porto.

CP workers start new strikes this Monday, with the carrier warning of “serious unrest” until March 2 to protest the stalemate in wage negotiations, which also involves Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).

CP warned on Friday of “serious disruptions” to train traffic between 00:00 Monday and 23:59 March 2 due to the strike, with minimum services set on two of those days.

Speaking to Luza around 07:45 this Monday, José Cayetano of the Independent Union of Railway, Infrastructure and Allied Workers (SINFA) said the strike was strong and only minimal services were being carried out.

The strike was called by the unions SINFA, ASCEF, ASSIFECO, FENTCOP, SINFB, SIOFA, STF, STMEFE, SINAFE for this Monday and Wednesday and SNTSF for Tuesday and Thursday.

For this reason, CP warned that “there will be major disruptions to national train traffic between 00:00 this Monday and 23:59 March 02, 2023”, adding that minimum services have been set. for this Monday and Wednesday.

Customers who have already purchased tickets for Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, as well as International, Interregional and Regional services can request a refund “in the total amount of the purchased ticket or its free re-checking on another train of the same category and in the same class”.

On February 15, the Union of Public Administration Workers (Sintap) and the National Union of Railway Workers and Associated Workers (Sinafe) announced a strike at the CP this Monday and Wednesday.

The statement said that the workers of the SR will strike “during the whole working time”.

A day earlier, these unions announced a strike at the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) on Tuesday and Thursday.

It is a “stalemate” in wage negotiations with IP and CP management, the unions said in a statement.
