Issuance of new CP passes delayed due to lack of electrical components

The issuance of new access cards at the checkpoint is delayed by about two weeks due to supply problems due to the lack of electrical components, due to ruptured “warehouses” due to the war in Ukraine, the company said on Monday.

“It is true that the release of the card is delayed by about two weeks, but only due to the delay in the delivery of cards by the supplier,” Comboios de Portugal – CP points out in a written response sent to the Lusa agency. .

Asked by Lusa about the delays in issuing new passes, namely those related to the regional service, the company states that its “supplier, which is the same for all transport in the Lisbon metropolitan area, has informed CP and all other operators that the delivery times have not been followed.” due to shortages of electrical components caused by the negative effects of supply chain disruptions.”

According to CP, the situation with this supplier arises as a “consequence of the impact on the global economy caused by COVID-19 and the current geopolitical context of the war in Europe” due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“According to the supplier, the situation will begin to stabilize this week, when customers who have requested new CP cards should receive the corresponding card,” the company adds in a clarification sent to Lusa.

Assuring that “this situation does not affect the download of current cards,” CP adds that “the issuance of new passes has never been suspended,” and “only the delivery of the physical card has been delayed.”

“This situation does not affect the issuance of the new Navegante cards used in the Lisbon metropolitan area – intermodal travel cards, whether municipal or metropolitan – as they are different cards/supports and in this case there was no interruption in availability,” concludes CP. .

The clarification came after Lusa revealed that CP would not be issuing new passes due to a lack of cards.
