According to the company, CP suppressed 145 of the 251 trains scheduled to run between 00:00 and 08:00 this Thursday, on the fourth and final day of the carrier and Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) workers’ strike.
CP workers started new strikes on Monday, with the carrier warning of “serious unrest” until this Thursday to protest the stalemate in wage negotiations, which also involves Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).
According to the balance sheet made by CP in Lusu this Thursday morning, out of 251 trains scheduled from 00:00 to 08:00, 106 have been sent and 145 have been canceled (57.8%).
CP – Comboios de Portugal indicates that 72 regional and inter-regional trains were scheduled, 39 of which were delayed and 33 were sent.
In terms of urban areas, 115 were planned in Lisbon, 76 suppressed and 39 implemented.
According to the company, in the urban areas of Porto, 52 were planned for this period, 29 were carried out and 23 were suppressed.
As for long-distance trains, 12 were planned, seven were canceled and five were implemented.
CP had already warned on Friday of “serious disruptions” to train traffic from Monday 00:00 to Thursday 23:59 due to the strike, with a four-day minimum service set at 25%.
The strike was called by SINFA, the Allied Association of Intermediate Directors of Railway Operations (ASCEF), the National Independent Union of Railway Workers (SINFB), the Independent Union of Railway Workers and Associated Workers (SIOFA), the Independent Association of Trade Unions of Commercial Careers of Railway Workers (ASSIFECO), the National Federation of Transport, Communications and Public Works (FENTCOP), Railway Technical Services (STF), STMEFE – Trade Union of Metro and Railway Workers (STMEFE), Sinafe – National Union of Railway Workers E Afin Movement and National Union of Railway Workers (SNTF).
It is a “stalemate” in wage negotiations with IP and CP management, the unions said in a statement.
