Minister of Health Manuel Pizarro announced this Thursday during a meeting of the Council of Ministers that the Algarve region will again have the INEM regional delegation that existed until 2012, when it was merged with the Tagus and Alentejo regions.
Pizarro said it was a measure to “increase emergencies in the Algarve”.
“In this way, we are preparing the conditions for strengthening emergency medical care in the Algarve region, which will also have a very important moment – the transition to new facilities”, a work that will be completed at the end of this year. the minister said.
Manuel Pizarro also said that the reopening of the INEM Regional Delegation is one of the “elements of the efforts” being made by the government to improve the quality of medical services in the Algarve, which “require a very specific way of phrasing”.
“This is the only region in the country that is facing regular service to a population of about half a million people, but in many cases it is more than double that, requiring local coordination, leadership and articulation capabilities that have fully recovered,” he said.
Territorial Unity Minister Ana Abruñosa stressed that the Algarve region has been one of the hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The second issue of Near Government started on Wednesday and will conclude this Thursday with a program of more than 60 initiatives in all the municipalities of the Faro region, with the participation of various ministers and secretaries of state.
