A lower court in Malaga, Spain, ruled that a man must pay his ex-wife 204,000 euros “in compensation for unpaid housework done at home” during their 25 years of marriage.
The judge’s sentence also includes a compensatory pension of 500 euros a month for the next two years for the wife, aged 48, and two other pensions of 400 and 600 euros for two daughters, aged 14 and 20. In addition, it obliges both parties to pay half of the emergency expenses incurred by young women, including dental consultations, ophthalmology, or even school support, among other things. The wedding took place in 1995, when the couple was in their twenties. In July of the same year, they signed a statement on the division of property.
