The GNR completed its search in Ponte de Sor (Portalegre) in the late morning to try to find a man who allegedly disappeared in the Lisbon area on Saturday, according to a security source.
A GNR source told Lusa that the search was unsuccessful and that there was “no indication” that the man was in the Rosmaninhal district, in the Longomel parish, in the municipality of Ponte de Sor (Portalegre).
The search to try to find the man, after family members reported missing, began on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m., and units of Ponte de Sor firefighters and GNR soldiers were mobilized.
Fonte da Guarda also explained to Luza that the warning was given to the authorities on Saturday by relatives in the Lisbon area and passed on to the GNR in the Ponte de Sor area around 00:00 on Tuesday.
The searches covered the Rosmaninhal area in the municipality of Ponte de Sor, as this was the man’s “last known location” recorded by his smart watch (“smart watch”), according to information provided by the family. GNR, the same source said.
The Military Guards searched this well and extended their search to include two other wells farther away, but could not find either the man or the clock.
According to the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Defense Directorate, eight operators were involved in the search operation on land and in water, assisted by four vehicles, from firefighters and GNR.
