The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, occupied by the Russian army in southern Ukraine, was left without a connection to the Ukrainian power grid after the Russian attack, the plant operator said on Monday, warning of the risk of an accident. Several more attacks have been recorded in the country.
“The last line of communication between the occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the Ukrainian power grid was cut due to rocket attacks” from Russia, Energatom said in a statement, specifying that emergency diesel generators guarantee a minimum supply of electricity to the central one.
Several explosions also sounded in Kyiv, said the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko.
“Explosions in the Goloseevsky district of the capital. All services [de emergência] move to the site,” Klitschko wrote on social networks, referring to the area in the south of the city.
The mayor also announced another explosion in the western part of the Ukrainian capital, which injured at least two people.
