The work of laying the third thread in the section between Astigarraga and Irun will conclude at the end of 2024, according to the forecasts that it manages Adifwhich will make it possible to reestablish the two routes and recover normality in the circulation of Surroundingsaltered since work began in 2017.
The general director of Adif AV, Juan Pablo Villanueva, has advanced this deadline in a visit to the Gaintxurizketa tunnel, in which he has been accompanied by the Minister of Transport, Iñaki Arriola, and the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Basque Autonomous Community , Denis Itxaso.
As Villanueva has pointed out, once the extension of this tunnel it will continue with those of Capuchinos (196 meters) and Loiola (288 meters) and will carry out the same operation in the four overpasses and the two existing pedestrian walkways in the section.
