Revilla awaits a common manifesto from the Atlantic Arc to urge France to speed up the rail connection

Lehendakari Urkullu meets this Monday with the presidents of Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria in Ajuria Enea.

The President of Cantabria, Miguel Angel Revilla, attends the Atlantic Arc meeting that is being held this Monday in Ajuria Enea to support Lehendakari Urkullu’s proposal on the Atlantic Corridor and seek support for the train connection between Bilbao and Santander. In this case, he has stressed, the support that interests him is that of the Basque Government to connect Santander and Bilbao in 58 minutes by train, and not in three hours and ten minutes as up to now.

In an interview given to the “Boulevard” program on Radio Euskadi, the Cantabrian president stated that he hopes that a common manifesto from the four communities (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi) will come out of today’s meeting to urge France to comply with the commitment to finish its part of the AVE Atlantic Corridor in 2030.

In the European Union, he has warned, it is necessary to be “for the good and the mature ones” and “it will be necessary to respect the commitments and agreements of the majorities”.

“We are in Europe and we want to have adequate communications and in line with what the future is, which are trains,” he added.
