President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform faces a crucial day today with votes in the Senate and the National Assembly.

The controversial bill, which includes a increase in the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64 years old, it will be debated and surely voted on in the Senate from 9:00 a.m. and in the National Assembly from 3:00 p.m.

Everything indicates that the vote in the Senate will go ahead, but Macron is not assured of votes in the National Assembly.

In the event that it could not approve the reform, the Government of Emmanuel Macron does not rule out resorting to the controversial article of the French Constitution 49.3 to approve it by decree.

The session of the two chambers comes a day after the eighth day of mobilizations against the reform since the Executive revealed the details of the project. Even if there is an approval, the workers’ representatives have already warned that they will continue to mobilize.

The unions have called a new protest today in the vicinity of the Assembly to put pressure on the deputies.
