CP has started “legal procedures” for a new tender for bar services

According to a statement released this Friday, CP has begun legal proceedings to launch a new tender for the maintenance of rods on long-distance trains after moving forward in resolving the contract with Apeadeiro 2020.

“CP has always fulfilled its obligations by paying the agreed amounts to the Apeadeiro 2020 concessionaire on time,” he assured, noting that despite this, “the service provided by the concessionaire has been deteriorating over the past few years. with a lack of food, food and drink.

The carrier said it had warned the concessionaire “several times” about “failures in the provision of services requiring compliance with specifications.”

“Unfortunately, the situation was not resolved by suspending the dining room and bar on the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains to the detriment of CP and its customers,” he lamented.

The carrier also stated that “due to the performance of the contract, including the settlement of amounts due, CP does not understand the reasons for the concessionaire’s failure to fulfill its obligations to its employees, as a result of which more than a hundred families were placed in a situation of uncertainty.”

CP acknowledged that the situation of workers at Apeadeiro 2020 is “delicate, especially with regard to overdue wages, and although it is not part of its responsibility”, the operator is “concerned about these workers and has made every effort to ensure that their rights are respected.” protected.”

However, he added, after several meetings, “the concessionaire company has not come up with any credible solution to provide contract services to CP and to settle wage arrears to its employees,” the railway operator said.

“For this reason, CP has moved forward with the immediate approval of the contract relating to the operation of the cafeteria and bar on board the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains”, having already started “legal procedures with the aim of urgently issuing a new international public tender”.

The carrier said that “with the hiring of a new bar concessionaire on long-distance trains, Apeadeiro 2020 workers will be able to keep their jobs.”

In closing, CP assured that it is “committed to resolving the situation as soon as possible so that its passengers can once again enjoy the cafeteria and bar services on board the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains”, in which “Apeadeiro 2020 workers can maintain their jobs.” jobs and recover wage arrears.

The Federation of Unions for Agriculture, Food, Drinks, Hospitality and Tourism of Portugal (Fesaht) told Lusa that CP notified on Wednesday the company Apeadeiro 2020, which is responsible for serving bars on trains, of terminating the contract.

According to Francisco Figueiredo of the Fesaht National Council, the operator briefed the union on this development at a meeting this Thursday at the Ministry of Labor, which Apeadeiro 2020 did not attend.

“CP only notified Apeadeiro 2020 of the termination of the contract,” he lamented, citing workers expressing “their dissatisfaction and protest” over the delay in resolving this issue. Workers are not receiving wages and services have been suspended.

CP will now “wait 10 working days for Apeadeiro 2020 to comment on this complaint,” the union leader said, warning that “this monumental delay at a time when workers have no social support is creating a very difficult situation.”

“The workers have decided, in order to minimize the situation from which they are suffering, to suspend from today [quinta-feira] employment contract,” he added, citing “they will receive a subsidy equivalent to the unemployment benefit, but they will be on duty at the door of Santa Apolonia and Campagna,” demanding that “the CP expedite the resolution of their situation.” “.

However, Francisco Figueiredo warned that, given the legal procedures in these cases, workers should only start receiving social security at the end of April.

The workers want SR to take over the contracts and services, at least until she announces and schedules a new open tender.

These specialists have been on strike since March 1. This problem affects about 130 people.
