“This Monday, Cruzeiro officially announced the hiring of a new professional football coach. Pepa, 42, arrives in Toca da Raposa to lead the Celeste team. The Portuguese coach is signing a contract that runs until the end of this year.” the club said in a statement.
Pepa was in the service of the Saudi Al-Tai until January, when he left the team, now replacing the Uruguayan Paulo Pezzolano in the Cruzeiro team.
As head coach, Pepa has coached Sanjoanense, Feirense, Moreirense, Tondela, Pacos de Ferreira and Vitória de Guimarães, in addition to Al Tay, after a playing career that saw him reach the Benfica first team but which ended early due to physical problem.
