Father Mario Rui Pedras of the Church of San Nicolau and Santa Madalena in Lisbon is one of four priests fired by the Lisbon Patriarchate whose names appear on a list of parish priests suspected of sexually abusing minors.
Mario Rui, who, according to Observer is the spiritual leader of André Ventura, announced his exclusion from the parishes after being informed that his name had been mentioned by the Independent Commission on Child Sexual Abuse in the Church.
In accordance with News, Mario’s father Rui Pedras says he is “shocked by the allegations” and claims it is “an anonymous and false complaint with no useful or useful elements to investigate.” The priest tells the parishioners that he did nothing wrong.
