The A4 motorway fully reopened around 5:15 p.m. between Vila Real and Bragança after restrictions were felt throughout the day due to an accident that occurred at 6:43 a.m. and forced the road to be cut, GNR said.
A source at Vila Real GNR said that traffic on this motorway in the Lamares area is already running without any restrictions.
Guarda has already said that the A4 partly opened at 15:00, circulating on one of the carriageways in the direction of Vila Real – Bragança.
A collision between two heavy vehicles occurred at 6:43 am at kilometer 104, resulting in three people with minor injuries and one serious, who were taken to the Hospital Center of Tras os Montes and Alto Douro (CHTMAD).
After the crash, Cruz Verde fire chief Vitorino Cardoso told Lusa news agency that two trucks caught fire after the collision, specifying that one of the trucks was carrying fabrics and textile waste and the other was carrying ceramics. .
According to the Douro Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, 32 operators and more than a dozen vehicles were mobilized for the operation, including Cruz Verde and Branca firefighters, GNR soldiers and the A4 concessionaire.
The accident occurred in the Lamares area, in the union of the parishes of São Tomé do Castelo and Justes, and traffic heading towards Vila Real – Bragança was diverted to the national road 15 (EN15).
The A4 motorway connects Matosinhos, Porto district, with Quintanilla, Braganca district.
