He Consumer price index (CPI) has fallen to 3.3% in March compared to the same month last year, according to data released today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Year-on-year inflation was 6% in February, 2.7 points less than in March.

The year-on-year CPI has reached its lowest level since August 2021, due to the fall in the price of electricity and fuel, which increased in March 2022 after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and decreased this month.

Despite the drop in year-on-year inflation, prices continue to rise.

In monthly terms, from february to marchthe CPI has registered a 0.4% increase.

The Underlying inflation, which does not count unprocessed food or energy products, has fallen by one tenth in its interannual rate to 7.5%. Even so, its difference with the general CPI is 4.2 points. In monthly terms the increase has been 0.7 points.

The advance data for March must be confirmed by INE in the middle of next month.
