Journalist and writer Maria Antonia Fiadeiro has died at the age of 81.

Maria Antonio Fiadeiro, a Portuguese journalist, writer and women’s rights activist, passed away this Thursday at the age of 81.

The Caixa Alta editors used Facebook this Saturday to announce the journalist’s death and also pay their respects. “Maria Antonia Fiadeiro, a model of intelligence, courage and sensitivity, died last night. The legacy he leaves us cannot be contained in the pages of everything he wrote, nor in the words he used with skill and insight, nor in everything he did for women in Portugal, nor in the artwork that he inspired. and applauded. We are proud that she became the first author of Caixa Alta editions,” they wrote on the social network.

Maria Antonia Fiadeiro was born in 1942 in Lisbon.studied philosophy at the Faculty of Lisbon University of Lisbon. In 1970, he began his career as a journalist with the Gazeta de São Paulo in Brazil. On November 26, 1972, she returned to Portugal, where she was arrested by PIDE at the airport and taken to Caxias prison, where she remained for a month. After leaving prison, she took up the position of literary director of Publications Europa-América.
