The Easter weekend will see an above-season maximum temperature that could reach 30 degrees in the interior of the Alentejo, although the nights will remain cold, an IPMA source told Lusa.

“The forecast for the Easter weekend will be generally cloudy or even clear in many places. According to available information [até ao momento]Everything points to dry weather without rain,” Angela Lorenzo, a meteorologist from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), told Lusa.

According to Angela Lawrenzo, the maximum temperature “will increase throughout this week” and will remain without “significant changes” over the weekend.

“This maximum temperature is above the average for this time of year, in many places in the interior of the Alentejo and the Tagus valley it can reach values close to 30 degrees Celsius,” he explained, adding that in relation to the minimum temperature, “the increase is not very significant”.

The IPMA statement stated that maximum temperatures “should range from about 23 to 26 degrees Celsius over most of the area, being somewhat lower in the coastal strip.”

As for minimum temperatures, they should fluctuate around seven to ten degrees, with the exception of the coastal strip south of Cabo Carvoeiro, where they will be slightly higher, and northeast of Tras os Montes, where they will be lower. . five degrees.

Despite the increase in temperature, the meteorologist indicated that he “will notice that the nights are still cold, that is, there will be no what is usually called summer time”, with nighttime cooling, noting, according to the meteorologist, “a large difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures.”

As for the wind, it “will prevail in the east quadrant over the Easter weekend with a tendency to turn into the north quadrant in the afternoon,” he explained, noting that it will be “a bit more intense in the western coastal strip and also in the highlands.” .

Regarding maritime disturbances, Angela Lourenço singled out the south coast of the Algarve, “with waves from the southeast that could reach one to two meters during the Easter period.”

As for the Madeira archipelago, at the moment, according to available information, forecasts indicate that “despite everything, there is some cloudiness with a low probability of precipitation,” Angela Lourenço said.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly between Thursday and Sunday, with maximums ranging from about 20 to 25 degrees Celsius and minimums of 15 to 19 degrees, except in high altitude areas where they will be lower, according to the IPMA Communication on Forecasts for Easter in Madeira.

“Right now, all information indicates a dry Easter, although on the islands the weather tends to change more often than on the mainland and therefore uncertainty is associated with the long-term forecast. the Madeira archipelago is always larger than on the mainland, and depending on the weather conditions, including,” he explained.

As for the Azores, according to the IPMA communiqué, “as of Thursday 6th, the approach of the new frontal system will affect the weather in all the islands, starting with the islands of the Western group and gradually spreading to the rest. archipelago on the day of Friday and Saturday, the 7th and 8th.

“In this regard, cloudiness is expected to increase with periods of rain turning into showers, wind intensification to moderate and weak (20/40 km/h) with gusts up to 65 km/h, moving to the north/north-west. across the archipelago on the 7th, on Saturday,” the note reads.

On Sunday, the archipelago will again be under the influence of a high pressure pocket, so the sky is likely to be lightly cloudy, but clear skies will alternate on all islands.

It is expected that the minimum temperatures can range from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius, and the maximum from 16 to 18 degrees.
