The household saving rate in the eurozone in the fourth quarter of 2022 increased for the first time after six consecutive cuts, while the investment rate fell to 9.7%, Eurostat said this Wednesday.
The household savings rate accelerated to 14.1%, up from 15.3% in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 13.3% in the third quarter of 2022, according to the European Statistical Service.
The household investment rate in the euro area, in turn, decreased from 9.8% in the same period of the previous year and 10.0% in the third quarter of 2022.
In the same newsletter, Eurostat reports that the profit margin of companies (non-financial companies) in the euro area increased between October and December 2022 to 42.0%, compared to 41.1% in the same period and to 40.4% % from the previous quarter.
On the other hand, the investment rate of companies fell to 23.5% compared to 23.7% in the same period of the previous year and 25.4% registered in the third quarter of 2022.
