A 1% interim wage increase and an 80 cent food subsidy increase to six euros in public administration scheduled for April will apply retroactively to January advanced this Wednesday by Fesap.
The announcement was made by the leader of the Federation of Public Administration Trade Unions (Fesap) José Abrao to reporters after meeting with Secretary of State for Public Administration Inés Ramirez at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Lisbon. .
“On the two graduation projects being discussed, whether it’s a 1% interim pay increase or an increase in the food subsidy, which were originally scheduled for April, “we were assured that there would be a retroactive effect until January 2023,” he said. Joseph Abraham.
José Abraão considered the two measures to be retroactive, despite emphasizing that any measure is currently “always insufficient” given the rise in the cost of living.
With these measures, wage bill growth will rise from 5.1% to 6.6% in 2023, the union leader said, adding that the government had given assurances that there would be an “adjustment” for the public business sector as well.
Under the government’s proposal, some 742,000 civil servants will receive a temporary 1% pay increase, in addition to the €52.11 January pay increase to around €2,600, or 2% for higher salaries.
Thus, the basic remuneration of civil servants, which increased by 56.58 euros to 761.58 euros in January, will amount to 769.2 euros, which corresponds to an increase of 9.1% compared to the previous year.
The food allowance increases from €5.20 to €6 (plus 80 cents) per day.
Also discussed was a government proposal to accelerate the careers of some 349,000 workers affected by the nine-year freeze.
In addition to Fesap, Secretary of State for Public Administration Ines Ramirez will host the State Union of Technical Staff (STE) and the Common Front of Trade Unions this Wednesday.
