According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), this Thursday a municipality in the Algarve is in maximum fire danger, and about 30 municipalities in the north and center, as well as in the Algarve, are in very high danger.
The IPMA placed the municipality of Tavira (Faro) at maximum fire risk, while three municipalities in the Bragança region, seven in Castelo Branco, eight municipalities in the Santarém region, five in Portalegre and five in Faro were placed at very high risk. .
Dozens of municipalities in the north and center, in the south of the Alentejo and in the Algarve are at high risk.
The fire danger defined by IPMA has five levels, from minimum to maximum. Calculations are made based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the past 24 hours.
For this Thursday, IPMA predicts a slight increase in maximum temperatures in the northern and central regions, some cloudiness or clear skies, locally strong winds in the highlands and a sharp nighttime cooling.
A slight increase in the minimum temperature is also expected.
In terms of temperatures, minimums will range from 5 degrees Celsius (Braga) to 13ºC (Lisbon) and maximums from 21ºC (Guarda) to 31ºC (Santarem).
