In just two days, at least seven people have died in traffic accidents, turning the Easter mini-vacation into a particularly tragic period on the road. In addition to Lusada, fatal crashes have also been reported in Vinhais, Barcelos, Vila Nova de Gaia and Évora. In total, six men and one woman, aged 37 to 73, have died in the past two days.
Fabio Costa, 37, was riding his motorcycle on his way to work on Thursday when he was killed in a collision with a car at an intersection in Cercedo, Vila Nova de Gaia. On the same day, a 45-year-old man was killed in a collision with a truck in Barcelos. On Thursday afternoon, a 71-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision between a car and a cargo van in Evora.
In Vinhaisa, a jeep crashed late in the day, killing a 73-year-old man who was still brought by helicopter alive but did not survive his trip to the Santo António hospital in Porto. The accident occurred on a rural road in the city of San Jomil, and the car fell into a ravine about 50 meters deep.
