This Sunday, the Pope expressed his concern about the violence in the last days in Israel and Palestine, and also called for peace in Ukraine during his Easter message at the Eucharist in St. Peter’s Basilica.
“This day we entrust to you, O Lord, the city of Jerusalem, the first witness of your resurrection. I express my deep concern at the attacks of the last days, which threaten the desired climate of trust and mutual respect necessary for the resumption of dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians so that peace reigns in the Holy City and the entire region,” Pope Francis said.
About 100,000 people, according to Vatican sources, gathered in the St. Peter’s Square area to hear the Easter message and receive the blessing of “Urbi et Orbi” after mass on Easter Sunday.
