Maximum fire danger in the Algarve and very high in the north and in the center of the hinterland.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), five municipalities in the Algarve are in maximum fire danger this Monday and more than 50 in the north and center and in the Algarve region are in very high danger.

IPMA has also classified more than 60 municipalities at high risk in the districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Guarda, Portalegre, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro.

The fire danger defined by IPMA has five levels, from minimum to maximum. Calculations are made based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the past 24 hours.

This Monday, IPMA forecasts a slight decrease in minimum temperatures in the northern and central regions and a slight decrease in maximum temperatures, with the exception of the Algarve, where it should increase.

Fairly cloudy skies are also forecast, with more cloudiness on the coast north of Cabo Raso and stronger winds on the western coastline south of Cabo Carvoeiro.

Minimum temperatures will range from 6 degrees Celsius (Vila Real and Braganca) to 16ºC (Faro) and maximum temperatures from 18ºC (Viana do Castelo) to 30ºC (Faro).
