Lula da Silva ends 100-day tenure and says he changed the chaos script he got

Brazilian President Lula da Silva said on Monday, after completing 100 days of his third term as president, that this period was very short, but has already changed the situation in the country. Lula praised the work of his 37 ministers, listed the measures he believes will make important progress in the country, and said that the first 100 days of rule had already changed the scenario of chaos he received (from Jair Bolsonaro) when he took office. 1st of January.

“100 days is very short, but it was enough for us to reverse the alarming scenario. It has been 100 days of hard work and I want you to know that those 100 days have taken a long time. But every day we have more and more. a chance to improve this country, and today Brazilians are already able to look to the future,” said Lula in a long speech at the Planalto Palace, where he gathered all his ministers, other assistants and allies to mark the date.

The press was not as optimistic as the head of state, but this date was also celebrated in the media with praise and hope, especially in the social sphere, where the measures of Lula da Silva’s third government were more precise and effective. Defense of democracy and institutions was another area in which the veteran president received applause, recalling that on January 8, a week after taking office, Lula faced an unprecedented wave of violence in Brazil, with Jair Bolsonaro’s radical followers clearly supporting the police. and the military, they invaded Congress, the Federal Supreme Court, and the Presidency of the Republic, wreaking havoc and calling for the former president to return to power.

In terms of the economy, the most sensitive area for most Brazilians, Lula has come under a lot of criticism as it takes time to take concrete measures to improve the lives of the population, inflation continues to rise, and the prices of food, medicine and household items have reached almost unbearable levels. . In the Environment, a sensitive area both in Brazil and for the image of the country abroad, things are also not going well, deforestation in the Amazon has not decreased, the government has still not actually carried out the announced military mega-operation to expel thousands of indigenous diggers, and the portfolio minister Marina Silva has yet to take the action expected of such an experienced and ardent environmentalist.

Disagreements among ministers, each speaking his own, also tarnished the government’s image and forced Lulu da Silva to publicly backtrack on measures that some of them apparently took to stand out and without consulting anyone. Corruption, which saw Lula himself already imprisoned for 580 days before his sentences were annulled by the Federal Supreme Court due to violations committed by then-Judge Sergio Moro, also returned to haunt the executive branch, this time without affecting directly to the president. several of his ministers, accused of bad deeds before joining the new government and whom the head of state did not call, saying that he was also accused, and then acquitted.
