Portuguese gymnasts Filipa Martins and Mafalda Costa qualified for the World Artistic Gymnastics this Wednesday thanks to their performance in qualifying for the European Championships in Antalya, Turkey.
Olympic champion Filipa Martins had the best result in the floor exercise competition with 19th place (12,700 points), in which Costa placed 54th (11,966 points), giving them, according to the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation (FGP) , high status. level A for the most experienced and B for the young.
In the all-around, Martins was in 45th place with 47,433 and Costa was in 53rd with 46,665 and headed to the World Championships, which will be held in Antwerp, Belgium from September 30 to October 8.
Overall, the women’s team finished 21st out of 27 participating teams this Wednesday, also helped by the efforts of Mariana Parente and Maria Menezes.
On the first day of the competition, Tuesday, José Nogueira had already reached the same qualification, on the day Marcelo Marques was 18th on a horse, the best result in Portugal.
Thus, the participation of the Portuguese in Antalya is closed.
