Azpiazu addresses today a second round of meetings with the opposition to negotiate the 2023 accounts

As in the first round, he will meet first with EH Bildu (09:30), and then with the representatives of Elkarrekin Podemos-IU (11:00) and PP+Cs (1:00 pm) .

The Minister of Economy and Finance of the Basque Government, Pedro Azpiazu, addresses today, September 16, a second round of meetings with the opposition to negotiate the 2023 budget. Specifically, it is scheduled to meet at 09:00 with EH Bildu, at 11:00 with Elkarrekin Podemos- IU and at 13:00 with PP+Cs. All the matches will be held in Lakua.

The first round of budget negotiations took place last Wednesday, the 9th, after which the counselor stressed that none of the three parliamentary groups have set “red lines” in order to continue working on a possible agreement. Azpiazu had already warned before the meetings that there will be no structural changes to the accounts.

For its part, EH Bildu presented a proposal in which he proposed changing the destination of 450 million Basque budgets for 2023 in order “to correct situations of deterioration in public services, especially in Osakidetza, the high cost of housing, the energy crisis, the serious situation of the primary sector and the loss of roots of strategic companies. As explained by the spokeswoman for the coalition Maddalen Iriarte, they gave the counselor a “common sense” proposal to initiate “structural changes”, since it is not possible to respond to the current challenges only with palliative measures”.

Also Elkarrekin Podemos-IU In his meeting with the counselor, he defended the need for tax reform. The spokesperson for the purple coalition, Miren Gorrotxategi, indicated that they delivered a document with a series of changes in the games and elements of political commitment.

Among others, Elkarrekin Podemos-IU has proposed to the Basque Government to use the remainder generated this year by the record collection to increase budget spending by 511 million and allocate it to measures against the energy crisis, health, housing, energy crisis and to comply with the educational pact.

PP+Cs He has conditioned his party’s support for the Basque budgets for 2023 to a tax cut that “relieves families” in the face of rising energy, fuel and mortgage prices.

After the meeting held with Azpiazu, the spokesman for the popular group Carlos Iturgaiz assured that his group does not put “red lines” although he did say that “to reach an agreement with PP+Cs you have to go in the direction” of regional governments of the PP like those of Galicia, Andalusia and Madrid, which are lowering taxes to “give tax relief to citizens”.
