Portuguese-Brazilian summit ended without the right to ask questions, contrary to expectations

The 13th Portuguese-Brazilian summit ended this Saturday without the right to questions from journalists after statements by Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa and Brazilian President Lula da Silva contrary to expectations.

The prediction was that the Brazilian media would ask the heads of government of Brazil and Portugal one question, and the Portuguese another, but after finishing his speech, Lula da Silva hugged António Costa, and then turned to him and asked: “Let’s go?” .

They then left the stage while some journalists were asking questions and left the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon.

The press offices of the two governments, interviewed by Lusa, were surprised at how the summit ended, with no questions from journalists.

On the Brazilian side, “the delay of the hour” was put forward as a possible explanation. Lula da Silva and António Costa’s media statements began at 6:45 pm, more than two hours late.
