BE considers it important that Lula da Silva speaks in the Portuguese Parliament

The Esquerda bloc this Sunday accused the far right of “creating a case” on every point of the Brazilian president’s visit to Portugal, deeming it important that Lula da Silva had the opportunity to address parliament.

“Lula da Silva will be in parliament on April 25, he will have the opportunity to speak before the parliament itself, which is important, and he will continue on his way. I don’t think it’s worth creating a case for every item on the agenda of the Brazilian President’s visit to Portugal, because it’s absurd. I understand that the more radical right wants to create a lot of cases about Lula da Silva,” said BE coordinator Katharina Martins.

The President of Brazil will be received in the Assembly of the Republic in a welcoming session, in which he will address the official session dedicated to the 49th anniversary on 25 April.

The bloc coordinator spoke to reporters at a conference at BE’s national headquarters in Lisbon to announce that the party will present a draft resolution in parliament on Monday to protect revenues in the face of inflation and abandon 2023 stability. Program /27 submitted by the Government on the 17th of this month.

Insisting that Lula da Silva would only speak in parliament as part of an official visit he is making to Portugal, Catarina Martins recalled that, contrary to what “the right and the extreme right intend,” the Brazilian president restored Brazil to respect for human rights. .

“[Lula da Silva] brought Brazil back to the path of respect for human rights, respect for international law, which is very important, a record that is very upsetting on the far right, especially because [o ex-Presidente Jair Bolsonaro] without winning the elections in Brazil in 2022,” the blockist leader believes.

“More, [a extrema-direita portuguesa] will bring Jair Bolsonaro to Portugal at a time when the former Brazilian president is under investigation for evidence he cannot testify, and when Transparency International has already accused him of creating the largest network of institutionalized corruption, as if the genocide that he caused in some areas of Brazil, refusing to respond to COVID-19 and leaving the indigenous population completely unprotected, was enough,” he said.

Catarina Martins mentioned a two-day world right summit in Portugal in May, hosted by Chega, led by Andre Ventura, and which, in addition to Bolsonaro, will also be attended by Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo. Salvini among other personalities.
