The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) has suspended a sausage factory in the Bragança area and confiscated 3.3 tons of products deemed unfit for consumption, the criminal police said on Saturday.
According to a message sent to the editors, the operation was carried out by a Mirandela operative unit brigade and was part of the “combating criminal offenses against public health and verifying compliance with the conditions of storage and handling of food”, followed by an examination by the Directorate General of Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV) for conclusions on the destruction of confiscated goods.
“The complete destruction of the seized products was established by sending them to a legally approved by-product processing facility because they were found to be abnormally damaged, non-traceable and non-compliant, and due to the fact that they contain a large amount of mold, dehydration. , abnormal coloration, the presence of ice crystals on its surface, rancidity and signs of decay,” the published note says.
The value of the seized products is 38,358.50 euros, and a criminal case has been opened “against public health for damage to abnormal food products”.
The ASAE also issued an immediate suspension order for the industrial facility, citing hygiene failures and the absence of a veterinary control number (NCV).
In addition to the products, labeling equipment and labels used by this manufacturing facility, which had already suspended NTS, were also seized.
