The brutal shooting of a man at the Taquara Plaza shopping center in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to this death, caused mass panic among people who were there on Friday night. The killers pursued the victim with gunshots until he was cornered while trying to escape down the escalator and was mortally wounded.
The 28-year-old man was walking on the second floor of the mall when the criminals approached him. When trying to escape, the victim ran in desperation to one of the escalators, apparently trying to go down to the first floor and leave the place, but could not.
Starting to shoot on the second floor, pursuing the young man, the killers managed to get to him on the escalator and easily killed him with new shots. The body of the victim was taken by the movement of the escalator to the floor below, where it was exposed to the frightened looks of people, and the suspects fled.
The sound of several shots provoked panic even among Taquara Plaza Shopping buyers who did not witness the brutal crime, and people, not knowing exactly what was happening, began to scatter in all directions. Many stores closed their doors as quickly as they could, and the food court was a wide open space, and in the corridors, people who could not get protection in the establishments fell into despair, since initially no one knew what was happening.
