Eurostat’s annual inflation rate rose slightly to 7.0% in April after six months of consecutive declines, according to a quick estimate released on Tuesday by Eurostat.
According to the EU statistics service, the annual inflation rate increased from 6.9% in March to 7.0% in April, however, remaining below 7.4% of the same month since 2022.
Taking into account the main components of inflation in the euro area, the highest inflation rate in April was in the food, alcohol and tobacco industries (13.6% compared to 15.5% in March), followed by commodity non-energy industries (6.2% on compared to up 6.6% in March), services (5.2% compared to 5.1% in March) and energy (2.5% compared to -0.9% in the previous month).
