The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) identified 19 minors who consumed alcoholic beverages at the Ovibeja agricultural fair in Beja, which ended on Monday, and filed eight administrative offense cases against economic agents, as announced on Tuesday.
The ASAE statement indicated that elements of the South Regional Unit – Operational Unit Evora of this body conducted a surveillance operation on the territory of the 39th edition of Ovibeji, which took place from Thursday to Monday in this city of Alentejo.
During the search operation, the day or days of which the ASAE statement did not specify, 19 minors were identified, of which 11 were under 16 years of age, the agency said.
ASAE inspectors also collected the necessary data to identify all those who sold or provided alcoholic beverages to minors, which led to the initiation of eight administrative offense cases.
The initiated processes “will follow their legal procedures,” the Food and Economic Security Administration stressed.
He added that this ASAE action was carried out in the food and beverage areas of the fair and was aimed at enforcing applicable regulations under the alcohol law, namely the sale and provision of alcoholic beverages to minors.
The command of the PSP district of Beja participated in the operation.
The 39th edition of Ovibeja ran from Thursday to Monday at the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Beja – Manuel Castro e Brito.
