Angolan President Joao Lourenço traveled to London, UK, to attend the coronation ceremony of King Carlos III, it was reported this Thursday.
The head of the Angolan state on this trip is accompanied by First Lady Ana Diaz Lourenço, the ceremony will take place on Saturday at Westminster Abbey, the Angolan press reports.
According to the press secretary of the President of the Republic, Luis Fernando, the President of Angola will be part of a group of various organizations invited from different walks of life to participate in the action.
Carlos III, 74, will be crowned on Saturday despite having already been formally proclaimed on September 10, 2022, two days after the death of his mother, Isabella II, at age 96 and after 70 years of reign.
The religious ceremony at Westminster Abbey includes a number of rituals, including the anointing with special oil and oath, the exchange of objects such as the king’s sword, orb and scepter, and finally the crowning of St. Edward (St., Edward).
Queen Consort Camilla will also be crowned, followed by a procession in a horse-drawn carriage to Buckingham Palace, where the royal family will appear on the balcony to conclude the public festivities.
The festivities will continue for two more days, including street parties across the country, a musical concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday and a national holiday on Monday, during which the King called on the British to volunteer.
