The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) has opened 16 cases of non-compliance with zero VAT on food prices following an inspection operation carried out from the north to the south of the country this Thursday. The information was put forward in a statement this morning.
There are also protocols of six criminal proceedings for price speculation, “namely, regarding the change in the price announced compared to the price available to the consumer, with deviations reaching 58%”, can be read.
Six more violations were identified related to the lack of display of prices, the lack of metrological control and non-compliance with general and special hygiene requirements. Most offenses were committed in supermarkets, convenience stores and hypermarkets.
94 inspectors and 47 teams took part in the operation, 160 economic entities were checked.
