A fire in the garage of a two-story building in Penela, in the municipality of Coimbra, mobilized more than 40 operators at 9:15 this Saturday morning, who have already extinguished the fire, which did not result in casualties.
A source from the sub-regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of Coimbra told Lusa that the alarm was raised at 6:20 am due to a fire in a garage on Avenida do Brasil in the city of Penela.
According to the same source, the fire “was limited to the area of garages, there are no reports of casualties.”
The source also said that due to poor visibility due to smoke, it took longer for firefighters to enter the garage.
At 8:30 a.m., the first fire in the car was extinguished, and firefighters continue to recognize new fires, a source at the National Office of Emergency Management and Civil Protection (Prociv) said.
According to a source in the territorial post of the PPR in Penela, traffic is regulated on the spot, the road is not cut.
By 9:15 a.m., according to the Prociv website, 43 operators were on site, supported by 14 ground assets.
