For its part, LAB has called a strike in the residences for the next 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 May; while CC. oo. has called to stop on May 22, 23 and 24 and June 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
The ELA union begins tomorrow a new round of strikes in the residences of the elderly in Bizkaia until the next 25 of May to demand the sectoral agreement and the end of working conditions that prevent workers from “getting to the end of the month”.
The workers of these centers denounce that the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the employers’ associations of the sector (Gesca, Lares and ELBE) “still do not show any will” to reach an agreement and have warned that “they will continue the fight” until they reach an agreement that satisfies their demands.
The collective claims a salary increase that allows “real steps” to be taken in comparison with existing working conditions in non-privatized care services. It also demands the job stability guaranteeing full-time shifts, the replacement of female workers from day one and reduced working hours for those over 60 years of age.
The representative of ELA Iratxe Viejo criticized the attitude of the Basque Government in this conflict a week ago, considering that it has favored the interests of the employer and “made invisible” the mobilization “with the expansion of the minimum services that make it impossible for the right to strike more than 80% of the sector”.
On the other hand, LAB has called a strike in the residences for the next 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 days of May; while DC. oo. has called to stop on May 22, 23 and 24 and June 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
