Former TAP shareholder Humberto Pedrosa today believes that now is not the best time to sell the airline and that if he owned the company, he would be waiting for a “better opportunity” to do so, but not Iberia.
At a hearing before the TAP Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, during the interrogation of Cheg MP Filipe Melo, the former shareholder made it clear that he believes in the future of the airline.
“Perhaps this is not the time to sell TAP. If TAP were mine, I would wait for a better opportunity,” he replied.
According to Humberto Pedrosa, “when selling a company, great care must be taken, given that the criteria cannot be based solely on value.”
“Even if Iberia paid better than Lufthansa, I think we should choose Lufthansa or another company over Iberia,” he defended, given the risk of moving the Lisbon hub to Madrid.
Making it clear that he believes in TAP “as it is, with the size that it has,” the former shareholder recalled that before joining the airline, friends called him “crazy for joining TAP.”
However, after getting to know the company from the inside, Humberto Pedrosa discovered that TAP has excellent people, which is one of the reasons for his commitment to the airline.
